Days Out: Inveresk Lodge Garden

Today we passed through Inveresk (near Edinburgh) on our way to visit my husband's grandmother, and we decided to have a stroll around the National Trust gardens at Inveresk Lodge. It was a sunny morning and the gardens looked beautiful. V enjoyed a bit of exploring around the grounds and it was a good way to break up the day's travelling for him.

The upper part of the garden is laid out and planted more formally, then there is this wilder, kinda romantic lower area with ponds and woods.

It's a lovely serene environment and although we didn't have long to spend there this time, I'd definitely like to return with a picnic another day.
